Sint-Bertinus
De patroonheilige van de kerk, Sint-Bertinus, stichtte met Momelin en Bertram in 648 een abdijtje op een heuveltje te Oudemunster, geschonken door Sint-Audomaar, bisschop van Terwaan.
Elf jaar later werd Bertinus de tweede abt na Momelin, die bisschop werd van Doornik.
Na enkele jaren verhuisde Bertinus de stichting naar een eiland in de rivier Aa, waarrond de stad Sint-Omaars (Saint-Omer in Frans-Vlaanderen) zich ontwikkelde. Hij kreeg van de Frankische koningen Chlotaar III en Childebert III ruime voorrechten voor zijn abdij, waarvan hij de eerste abt werd.
Kort na zijn overlijden werd hij heilig verklaard en werd de abdij vanaf 1100 de Sint-Bertensabdij genoemd. Deze abdij ligt aan de oorsprong van de kerstening van de kustvlakte van de Westhoek tussen de monding van de IJzer te Nieuwpoort en de Aa te Grevelingen (Gravelines over de Franse grens).
De parochiestichtingen in de volgende eeuwen kregen patroonheiligen, die gelinkt zijn aan deze abdij: Sint-Audomarus, Sint-Bertinus en Sint-Winock.

Sint-Livinus is de tweede patroonheilige van de kerk. Tot in de 20ste eeuw kwamen autobussen met pelgrims van heinde en verre naar Bulskamp afgezakt voor de verering van de Heilige Livinus. De verering was een negendaagse (novene) tussen 12 november tot en met 20 november. Na de goddelijke diensten tijdens de novene werd er gezegend met de relikwie van de H. Livinus.
Foto van een karton met ontwerptekening van de muurschilderij voor het zuidelijke koorgedeelte en imitatiesteen met decoratieve elementen rond de ramen en bloembanden. Deze beschilderingen zijn niet meer terug te vinden in de huidige kerk maar wel op de volgende prentbriefkaart van 1905 en foto uit het jaar 1916. De oorspronkelijke muurschilderij verbeeldt het volgende: "De H. Livinus bekeert Vlaenderen", volgens het onderschrift op het karton.
Dit originele karton wordt in het Kunstdepot van Veurne bewaard. Het werd ontworpen door Camille Wybo, glazenier en kunstenaar te Veurne zoals zijn broer Arthur. Het karton is gedateerd op 21 juli 1903.

Interieur kerk
Bemerk de prachtige gotische beschilderingen achter het hoofdaltaar en de zijaltaren. Een bloemmotief siert de omkaderingen van de ramen. Camille Wybo tekende het ontwerp op kartonnen, die in het depot van Veurne bewaard worden.
6 juni 1915 Sacramentsprocessie
Sacramentsprocessie vond plaats op de zondag na het Pinksterweekend en werd in de jaren '70 van de 20ste eeuw voor de laatste maal georganiseerd.

Het hoogtepunt van de processie was het ronddragen van van Heilig Sacrament onder het baldakijn. Bemerk de voorganger met vlag, Michel Rubben, en op het einde van de stoet de soldaten.

Eucharistieviering
Tijdens de eucharistieviering werd op de nationale feestdag in 1916 hulde gebracht aan de heer Michel Rubben, brouwerszoon. De familie Rubben woonde in de Bulskampstraat in de herenwoning met classicisme lijstgevel. Bemerk de aanwezigheid van de soldaten en de afwezigheid van vrouwen tijdens deze huldiging.
30 mei 1940
Vernielde torenspits
Torenspits werd tijdens de operatie Dynamo, waarbij de geallieerden 3 weken het Nazileger aan de Bergenvaart tussen Bulskamp en Houtem tegenhielden, erg beschadigd.
Gedenkzuil
Gedenkzuil en militaire graven op het kerkhof.
De gedenkzuil is voor de militaire doden van Bulskamp tijdens WOI. Er is eveneens een mementokader in de kerk.
Er zijn twee heldenhuldezerken in rij c/7
Op de zuidoostkant van het kerkhof liggen de militaire slachtoffers van WOII, die omkwamen in de omgeving van Bulskamp tijdens de operatie Dynamo einde mei 1940.
De gedenkzuil is voor de militaire doden van Bulskamp tijdens WOI. Er is eveneens een mementokader in de kerk.

Op de zuidoostkant van het kerkhof liggen de militaire slachtoffers van WOII, die omkwamen in de omgeving van Bulskamp tijdens de operatie Dynamo einde mei 1940.
1945-1960
De beschadigde torenspits werd afgebroken en werd pas begin jaren '60 van de 20ste eeuw heropgebouwd.

A family from my country is looking for information on the tombstone of one of their ancestors, his name is Bruce Murray and we need a photograph of this headstone. he is part of 30 white headstones which are arranged in two rows of 13 each in the southeast corner of the church. We have tried by all means but it has not been possible to find someone to help us. If by the force of a miracle in your pharmacy someone can help us and take photos of that tombstone, we will be eternally grateful on the other side of the world. Atte, Cristian Gomez,

We are doing a biography of my grandfather, Alex Murray Jr., who was a half-brother of Bruce.
Bruce was born in Costa Rica, his mother was Costa Rican, Adriana Quirós, and his father Scottish, Alex Murray Sr.
His father married twice, first time to a Canadian lady with whom he had 4 children: Alex Jr., Charles, Wallace and Amparo. He was then widowed. He remarried a Costa Rican lady, Adriana Quirós and from that marriage were born Douglas, Clemencia, Graciela and Bruce. He was widowed a second time.
All his 8 children were very close and lived in Costa Rica. In those days education was not very good here in Costa Rica. For their early years they had English or Scottish governesses and then they were sent to relatives and boarding schools in Canada and Scotland. I do not have any details.
Though all 8 children were born in Costa Rica, they had dual nationalities, Costa Rican and British. Hence when the war broke out 3 of them volunteered. Alex Jr., Douglas and Bruce. Only Bruce did not come home.
Bruce´s father, Alex Murray Sr., was born in Scotland but his family migrated to Hamilton, Canada when he was 4 years old. He grew up in Canada and then migrated to Costa Rica. He lived here until he died.

Brandglas naar aanleiding van nieuwe kerk in 1888. Het brandglas werd in het raam geplaatst bij de viering van 100 jaar kerk.
Het streefdoel van de kerkraad is om 140 jaar later de nevenbestemmingen van de kerk te realiseren en huldigen.
